We can acurately portary the 9th or the 249th Field Company Airborne Sections to the Royal Engineers. During the Normandy invasions and northern Europe theatre they were a highly organised and mobile fighting forces capable of dealing with minefield clearance and other dangers that may hold up an advance.
The group has original mine clearing equipment and inert German ordnance. As part of our living history display we set up a mock minefield complete with cleared lanes and an asortment of 'unexploded' mines awaiting disposal.
